Archive for November, 2011

As well as an exclusive chat to Creators Project this excellent little video features some footage of Chilly’s special live show and some more entertaining bits. Anyone who avidly watches Chilly vids knows what to expect!

We’ve been big fans of Youth Lagoon this year with his wistful, slightly anthemic songs. Montana is our favourite so far and the video is very nice too.

Clock Opera has been an artist that has gone coast to coast for us this year and gets better at every turn. We are pleased to find an excellent remix of the a new Feist song. Lovely stuff:

The lovely guys in Walls have kindly made Eat Your Own Ears a playlist. The list takes in everything from Arthur Russell to Fugazi and from front to back works as a great mix. Some of these videos are well worth the visual attention too. The aforementioned Arthur Russell video is a big highlight. Nice to see cloud rap originator Cannibal Ox propping up the end of the list too.

You can see Walls support The Field on the 8th of December, more info here: The Field + Walls

Outfit + Au Palais - Tuesday - Cargo

Here is a show we have been excited to see for a while. One of EYOE’s favourite newcomers of the year Outfit packed out the Shacklewell for their single launch and this time they are back to play only their second London show. Big things beckon for next year.

New Build - Tuesday - Electrowerkz - SOLD OUT

Another new band and another Hot Chip side project to get excited about. First single ‘Finding Reasons’ knocked us out and an album is coming in early 2012.

Rocketnumbernine - Wednesday - Shacklewell Arms

Brother duo Rocketnumbernine have had just about the perfect start in music - a single on Kieran Hebdon’s TEXT label (laid down in one take), a tour with Four Tet and Caribou, and to crown it all - a slot opening for Radiohead in the US at the request of Thom Yorke.

Clock Opera + Becoming Real - Thursday - Electrowerkz

The excellent Clock Opera are returning alongside Becoming Real. Clock Opera are a band whose live show seems to get bigger and bolder every time we see them. While their career so far has been a slow burn we think things could light up very quickly in 2012.

Eleanor Friedberger + Weird Dreams - Thursday - Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club

As our Spotify mix last week attests, Eleanor Friedberger has been part of some of the best music of the 00s and the 10s so far. Her solo record this year is riding high in many end of year lists (including ours) and earlier in the year her live show blew us away too. Repeat please.

Simply put: one of the songs of the year.

One of our recent faves Zulu Winter are on Dazed and Confused today, with a nice interview. Take a read:

Spank Rock recently went out on on the ‘Check Yo Ponytail! tour’ in the US alongside Wavves, Pictureplane, Freelandia and The Death Set. We’ve heard great things about Spank Rock’s live show lately and these pictures from Spin suggest it’s not a show to miss.

Eleanor Friedberger has laid claim to our hearts this year with one of the best solo debuts for some time. She is, of course, also one half of one of the best duos of the last decade as well - The Fiery Furnaces. Plenty of ammo then, for a Spotify round-up of her career as it stands. Celebrate her here:
