This series of shows will be the first time Bill has played in London since his 2014 tour in support of the stunning album ‘Dream River’ and we can’t wait to see him perform once again.
Support comes from comedian Harry Deansway.

Harry Deansway has worked in the comedy industry for 15 years and has the bank balance and hair line to prove it. The former comedy editor of the Guardian Guide and his own nationally distributed comedy magazine The Fix he’s often been critically acclaimed but is yet to be financially rewarded. Now focusing on stand up he is currently on his third live show which is about his one man battle against success, which he’s winning. Now recorded as a DVD it will be released in May.  He’s also an accomplished filmmaker who recently wrote directed and starred in the cult web-series Shambles.

He doesn’t know why he has written this press release in the third person.

Saturday 6 May

The House of St Barnabas is proud to present Festival Embassy, an evening of entertainment curated with Eat Your Own Ears, bringing the feel and atmosphere of London’s much loved Field Day London to the heart of Soho.

On Saturday 6th May, London based promoters Eat Your Own Ears – creators of London’s Field Day Festival – will join forces with The House of St Barnabas, bringing the festival to the centre of Soho for one evening only. Festival goers can expect intimate sets from James Yorkston and Stevie Parker in the stunning gothic chapel, DJ sets from The InvisibleFlamingods and Field Day DJs, plus a very special guest TBA shortly. Guests can enjoy a film screening of songwriter Leon Russell’s mesmerising documentary ‘A Poem Is a Naked Person’, supplied byDEEPER INTO MOVIES, an evening full of energetic and uplifting acts, and festival food served up in the magical courtyard garden.

Festivalgoers can purchase tickets for Festival Embassy through a ‘Pay it Forward’ scheme. For every ticket bought one will be given to participants or graduates of the House’s Employment Academy. Further tickets will be distributed via the referral agencies that work closely with the charity, and local Soho-based organisations that are also working to break the cycle of homelessness. Tickets to the micro-festival are just £15 and are available from www.hosb.org.uk/tickets

Bristol-based singer and songwriter Stevie Parker says, “As a musician I feel it is a moral responsibility to promote equal opportunities. It’s a tough world scarce of opportunity out there for most musicians, let alone the homeless.”

Festival Embassy at The House of St Barnabas will see the charity partner with some of the most diverse festivals around, bringing attendees the full festival experience in a vibrant corner of Soho; a beautiful historic Georgian townhouse and French Gothic chapel, with a drive to end the cycle of homelessness at its heart.

Jakuzi, an Istanbul-based Turkish-language synth-pop band formed around the core-duo of Kutay Soyocak on vocals and Taner Yücel on bass and synths, will be releasing their debut album ‘Fantezi Müzik’ via City Slang on 24th March 2017.

Jakuzi don’t sound like any other band out there right now. Their debut album ‘Fantezi Müzik’ could be described as a lo-fi pop masterpiece from a faraway time, place and perhaps an alternate universe. Think David Bowie having a fever dream in Turkey, Depeche Mode stranded at the Bosporus… but at the end of the day they just sound completely like themselves.

While music fans and the press were busy catching up on the Turkish legacy of 70s rock and psychedelia, a very active and vibrant underground music scene was developing under the radar in Istanbul. Jakuzi are the latest offspring, and their debut record might just change the international perception of contemporary Turkish music.

Plus support from DJ Fitz, check out one of his Mumbai inspired mixes HERE.

Doug Hream Blunt

SPECIAL GUESTS
The Jazz Cafe
Friday 14 July
5 Parkway Camden Town London NW1 7PG

£15 ADV 7PM

Doug Hream Blunt is an ethereal, elusive character.
With fans ranging from Ariel Pink to his namesake Dean Blunt, the San Francisco resident’s cult mythology as a ‘funk outsider’ continues to grow, almost to the same levels as William Onyeabor, partly due to the sheer scarcity of live shows that he plays anywhere, let alone in the UK.

For this rare appearance he will be bringing the Luaka Bop family to DJ, alongside some very special guests that will be revealed on the night.

A mystical genius, this is a one off opportunity to catch a true maverick in person.
