We’re still in a blissful haze following Night + Day last week. We’ve had tons of great photos flowing our way all week. We sent down Carolina Faruolo who got some ace snaps of her own. Check out our favourite few below, and more on our Facebook.

Saturday saw a very special Night + Day festival unfold just north of London. The festival was a big success and some of the photos starting to appear are stunning. No more so than Hannah Marshall’s backstage set (recommended by The xx)… Take a look at more of her shots on her own Tumblr here.

Thanks to everybody who came and made it so special.

Night + Day is upon us - the London leg of The xx led event is tomorrow and we are beyond excited. As we wait out the final remaining hours, here’s a guide to the label behind The xx (and a few other artists playing…) - the excellent Young Turks.

The Young Turks label is nearly 100 releases old, so we’ve picked a couple of landmark numbers and songs to post to tell the story.

YT001 - Jack Penate - Second Minute or Hour

It all started with Jack Penate, but his influence extends a bit further than you’d expect too - his old backing singer Jessie Ware releasing a single with Sampha some 55 release later. Take Jack for a spin above.

YT010 - Holy Fuck - Lovely Allen

Holy Fuck’s self-titled debut was the first Young Turks LP and the Lovely Allen single was the label’s tenth release. The song still sounds just as good as it did back then too.

YT023 - The xx - Crystalised

The focus of Night + Day and still Young Turk’s most famous success. The incubating of the precocious and hugely talented band is one of Young Turk’s greatest achievements so far. Crystalised a superb introduction. See also YT031 (The xx - The xx).

Another huge success and another act Eat Your Own Ears have worked with over the past few years. The SBTRKT debut is superb, can’t wait for the next one.

YT088 - Koreless - Sun

Koreless’ Yugen EP is one of our favourites of the year so far. He also plays Night + Day and we can’t wait. Check out the hypnotising Sun above.

Polica’s excellent single Tiff came out this week. Hot on the heels of its release is this violent, dark video for the song, featuring Justin Vernon. Have a listen/watch above and snag tickets to see them at Night and Day here.

With The xx’s Night+Day event rapidly approaching we’re running a few pieces centered around the acts performing at the festival. First up is Jamie xx who will be DJing on the bandstand, and rounding off the festival in his usual role as The xx’s beat magician. We’re rather partial to a Jamie xx remix here at EYOE, and here’s a selection of our favourites…

Adele - Rolling in the Deep

Possibly the most well known Jamie xx edit, chances are high you’ve danced to this one late at night. Jamie takes Adeles thunderous original and super-charges it, rolling even deeper.

Glasser - Tremel

Slightly older take here, but an excellent rework of Glasser’s already brilliant tune Tremel.

Radiohead - Bloom

Another big favourite and the standout mix from Radiohead’s King of Limbs remix set. Jamie contributed another couple of parts to his rework of Bloom but Part 3 is unforgettable.

Four Tet - Lion

Jamie xx keeps it in the EYOE family, taking on Four Tet’s Lion to great effect. Come for the bass, stay for the blissful piano.

The xx - Basic Space

Swinging back full circle now, and to The xx’s debut record. Jamie xx’s rework of Basic Space is another favourite of ours and puts a fresh spin on the band’s understated calling card.

Another huge and fun year of Field Day has passed and will live long in the memory. Here at EYOE the festival season is continuing with our thoughts and excitement turning to The xx programmed Night+Day London.

See above for details as we get very excited indeed.
