EYOE August/September Mix

August is well and truly here and after a quiet start to the month exciting shows kick into gear next week with Julia Holter. After that sees the likes of Julianna Barwick, Eleanor Friedberger (Above), Outfit, Junip, Connan Mockasin and more hit London in the coming weeks. As a sort of aural guide we’ve put together a mix covering August and September. The sound is very much a tail end of summer one, sleepy and wistful. Listen below…

These New Puritans – Organ Eternal

In a year of quite excellent British records, These New Puritans ‘Field of Reeds’ stands as high as any – a surefire Mercury tip too. Have a look at their stark and beautiful video for Organ Eternal above. They hit London again in October.

Youth Lagoon – Raspberry Cane Video

Here’s another great video from Youth Lagoon. The animated clip is for Raspberry Cane, one of our favourites on the record, and really brings out the oddworld charm that found Youth Lagoon in such captivating form on Wondrous Bughouse earlier this year.

Eleanor Friedberger – Personal Record Medly for Pitchfork

Eleanor Friedberger’s Personal Record is one of our favourite from the year and for the initiated or new, this performance of snippets from the record is a great, funny start. It’s also kind of the way normal Fiery Furnances songs sound.

She’s in London on the 3rd of September.
