Stream full Junip show for KEXP

Here’s a morning treat. Junip hit KEXP earlier in the summer for a session with KEXP. We posted a couple of tunes on the blog before but now you can watch the whole session performance above.

Junip are back in London next month. Details here.

Field Day at Eat Your Own Ears

With Field Day 2013 becoming a smaller dot in the rear view mirror and a busy latter half of 2013 for Eat Your Own Ears very much upon us we thought we’d reflect on Field Day acts that are back in London for more with us over the coming few months. Read our guide below…

FIELD DAY 2013 ACTS

OUTFIT
+ Special Guests

Electrowerkz
Thursday 12th September

Outfit were a welcome last minute addition to Field Day 2013 (they also played in 2012) – you may have caught them in Palma Violets afternoon slot around 2pm on the Laneway Stage. Since then the band have snuck up with a superb debut record, out next week and making critics go weak at the knees.

CONNAN MOCKASIN
+ Special Guests

Village Underground
Wednesday 18 September

After his stunning performance at Field Day this year, we are excited to welcome Connan Mockasin (above) back to London this September. Connan Mockasin has the kind of deliciously off-kilter and gloriously idisyncratic worldview that rapidly proves addictive. Once you’ve heard it, you can’t help but wish to go back for more.

TIM BURGESS
+ Throwing Up

Islington Assembly Hall
Monday 21 October

It’s fair to say that over the past two years, Tim Burgess has been a very, very busy man. In that time, The Charlatans singer has written an autobiography, launched the O Genesis record label, and started his own boutique coffee business, Tim Peaks. Tim made a youtube playlist for us showcasing his eclectic musical tastes just before he performed at Field Day, check it out here.

JULIO BASHMORE

Venue TBA
Saturday 12 October

Bashmore needs little introduction, especially if you were there, in the packed Bugged Out! tent at Field Day 2013. We are delighted to have him back this October, venue TBA.

CHVRCHES
+ Thumpers

Manchester Ritz
Monday 14 October

O2 Shepherds Bush Empire
Thursday 17 October

In little more than twelve months CHVRCHES have come out of nowhere to be everywhere. There’s a lot to catch up on since they posted their first song, ‘Lies’, online last May – a place in the top five of the BBC sound of 2013, sell out headline tours in the UK and US, an award – winning appearance at SXSW, a string of stadium dates with Depeche Mode and a triumphant Field Day 2013 appearance.

CLEAN BANDIT
+ Special Guests

Electric Brixton
Saturday 26 October

Their debut single ‘Mozart’s House’ as a Top 20 Hit, and after triumphant performances at the Electrowerkz, Field Day and last month’s XOYO, we can’t get enough of them.

JAMES YORKSTON
Christmas Special

Union Chapel
Thursday 19 December

It might be hard to start thinking about Christmas, but it’s never too early to start getting excited about James Yorkston’s legendary Christmas gigs. James will be joined by some very special guests to play songs new and old and might even thrown in a carol or two!

Limited early-bird tickets are available here.

MOUNT KIMBIE
+Special Guests

Koko
Thursday 14 November

Hot on the heels of the release of their second album ‘Cold Spring Fault Less Youth’, Mount Kimbie can now announce a European tour including their biggest UK headline show to date at Koko in London. The innovative dance duo impressed crowds with their haunting beats, subtle melodies and crazy visuals at both Field Day and a recent London show. These guys are certainly not ones to miss!

KURT VILE & THE VIOLATORS
+ Quasi

O2 Shepherds Bush Empire
Wednesday 11 December

Kurt Vile has a way of tying time in knots. Regularly compared to Leonard Cohen, Tom Petty, Psychic TV and Animal Collective in the same review (for 2009’s CHildish Prodigy), Kurt can bring to mind anything from Suicide to Leo Kottke to My Bloody Valentice, Nick Drake and Eastern ragas. Kurt Vile might belong to a long lineage of classic American songwriters, but he’s the only one who’s alive and in his prime today.

Tickets here.

LOCAL NATIVES
+ Cloud Control
+ Big Deal

O2 Academy Brixton
Thursday 17 October

After seeing their brilliant show at Scala and their secret set at Field Day, we are really excited to have Local Natives back this year.

We can’t wait for Julia Holter’s much anticipated return to London in a few weeks. Julia’s first full-length Tragedy picked up plaudit after plaudit, topping best-of polls universally. Her show at the beautiful Cecil Sharp House will be truly magical and one not to forget.

Stream new albums by Outfit, Julianna Barwick and Barbarossa

It may be August and a little quieter than usual in the music world but we’ve been burning through plays of three excellent new records this week and now you can too…

Barbarossa – Bloodlines (Spotify)

Barbarossa’s new record Bloodlines is very good indeed, and attracting some press to back it up. The album is out this week and they play The Waiting Room tonight for us. That show is sold out but there’s not long to wait until the next one – Sebright Arms on 13th September.

Outfit – Performance (via The Guardian)

Here’s one very special record a long time in the making. Liverpool band Outfit first emerged a couple of years ago with a set of stunning songs and live up to the hype on their debut Performance. Listen above, out next week. They play Electrowerkz on 12th September.

Julianna Barwick – Nepenthe (via NPR)

Julianna Barwick has long been an EYOE favourite too – her haunting, sleepily seductive music is perfect for the tail end of summer. Listen to Nepenthe above. See her at St. Giles Church on 29th of August.

CHVRCHES – The Mother We Share (Video)

It’s been a huge year so far for Chvrches and it’s great to see them come full circle with their latest single (and album opener) ‘The Mother We Share’. It was one of the first songs of theirs we heard and we fell hard for it. Check out a new video above.
