John Darnielle is one of our best songwriters, fact. Over the years, his music under the name The Mountain Goats (solo, or with a band) has offered up plenty of funny, touching, or life-affirming moments. Lyrically the man is unsurpassable, and here are some of our favourite Mountain Goats lines…
– The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton
Not only is this one a contender for best Mountain Goats title, but we get this great line and possible origin story for Brandon Flowers band The Killers.

One of Darnielle’s most harrowing from arguably his most devastating record The Sunset Tree. This one marks the sudden denouement of the story told throughout the whole record.

A funny and heart-rending account of misplaced but tender devotion or caffeinated fear gone awry…?

The Mountain Goats play Union Chapel on the 8th of October.
One of 2013’s biggest success stories so far Clean Bandit are back with another huge song. This one’s called Dust Clears and you can watch the amazing video for it above.
