Another great bill from Arthur Beatrice and their Open Assembly nights.

7 months ago Chilly Gonzales played some select ‘Piano Talk’ shows and gave an interview about a show he was preparing for in Scotland for 200 people. For the next week and a half he plays for Eat Your Own Ears in front of a much smaller crowd - the distillation of the ultimate Chilly Gonzales experience, and as unmissable as they come. Watch that entertaining video from a few months ago above and grab any left over tickets you can for the run at Soho Theatre.

Eleanor Friedberger - My Mistakes from Merge Records on Vimeo.

The Eleanor Friedberger record is one of our favourites of the year and My Mistakes a terrific single in its own right. We’ve been catching up this week, really enjoying this video to accompany the song. She plays for us tonight - still a handful of tickets left.

This bratty number from Tribes sounds a little like The Cure and a few other things we already know and love, but their personality tips us over the edge. Check out the new vid above

Foe is a songwriter who has been bubbling under for some time now and we reckon she is about to take off. Her guitar jams are bursting with personality, recalling early PJ Harvey and tapping in some of the 90s nostalgia vibes going around. Take a listen to Deep Water Heartbreaker and see her at the Victoria on October 20th.

Keiran Hebden heard some of Juk Juk’s tracks a little whole ago and played them out at Plastic People, including the amazing Winter Turn Spring. That song is now getting a release on Hebden’s TEXT record label and receiving plays from Gilles Peterson. Check out the single below:

The amazing Dels has kindly made Eat Your Own Ears a little YouTube mix, taking us on a tour of some future-thinking electronic music like KWES, Jacques Greene and Joy Orbison right back to some classic Alicia Keys and Slum Village. Highlights aplenty, take a look, listen and see. Dels blew us away earlier in the year and is set to do so again at XOYO on the 6th of October.

It’s mixtape day on the EYOE blog - here is one from Connan Mockasin, and later on we have a special playlist that DELS has put together for us. On to Connan and this is some morning music for you with a bit of an orchestral bent.

One of our remixes of the year. Planningtorock and Creep play together for us soon (with Romy XX DJ-ing). This is well-worth another spin with its slow-mo, dark vocals and slow build textures.
