K-X-P

LINE OF BEST FIT DJS
Shacklewell Arms
Wednesday 10 December 2014

Finland’s finest are back with something truly epic. Where K-X-P’s 2010 debut was an exercise in Kraut-tronica, K-X-P II finds the band unleashing their inner pop deviance. This is an album full of rock ‘n’ roll shamanism, glam-punk madness, grinding dance music, electronic Motörhead techno – and a bit of Krautrock too.

COURTNEY BARNETT + NZCA LINES
Alexandra Palace
Friday 5 December 2014

We are very excited to announce Metronomy’s biggest London show to date at Alexandra Palace on Friday 5th December as part of a short UK tour (+ Manchester and Glasgow).

It’s been a busy six months since the release of ‘Love Letters’, the forth album from Joe Mount and his band. With their stunning stage production stepping up a notch, and their personal stage style looking more and more like entertainers in the truest sense of the word (the foursome give a nod to American vocal groups of the 60s and 70s in matching stage suits and Repetto shoes), Metronomy mean business. After their brilliant headline set at Field Day last month, last week you couldn’t switch on Radio 1 or 6 Music without being met with some kind of pre-Glastonbury Metronomy excitement building – Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Stuart Maconie, Liz Kershaw and Mary Anne Hobbs were all flying the Metronomy flag in face of the band’s forthcoming appearance at the UK’s flagship music festival, where they played two heroic sets.

Metronomy is the sole creation of singer, writer and producer and expert musician Joseph Mount. His band are: Oscar Cash (keys, sax, vox), Anna Prior (drums, vox), Gbenga Adelekan (vox, guitar).

Kero Kero Bonito

BO EN + LIL DATA
Electrowerkz
Wednesday 3 December 2014

London trio Kero Kero Bonito exude confidence—on “Sick Beat”, off the just-released Intro Bonito mixtape, lead singer/rapper Sarah Bonito explicitly hypes her video game skills. “No matter how many hours a day/ I could win at any game/ Whether you’re a boy, or a girl, or a super-computer,” she sings, but it’s not just an extended brag about Tomb Raider. She also spends time brushing off those who say “she should get some girly hobbies instead,” hop-scotching between English and Japanese.

Therein lies Bonito’s boldness: The bulk of “Sick Beat” is sung in Japanese, a move that could be alienating to those who mainly listen to music delivered in English. But Sarah Bonito is just using a language she knows, while producers Augustus and Jamie Bonito’s ribbiting music takes some cues from a scene they know well—contemporary J-pop. Kero Kero Bonito embrace ideas that might be side-eyed by others, and end up with a strong tune all their own.

Only Real

VELVET MORNING
Colours
Thursday 27 November 2014

£8 ADVANCE

We are excited to announce a new show with Only Real at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen in November.

Only Real returns with new single “Pass The Pain”. It’s swirling, colourful psychedelia, underpinned by a unique drawl that allows his idiosyncratic word play to pour out and run all over his woozy guitar lines. Its upbeat, life-affirming and the perfect hit of the summer.

Only Real first emerged on LuvLuvLuv Records with his debut “Days In The City”. This was followed up earlier this year with his first single on Virgin EMI with “Cadillac Girl”, a track recorded in Atlanta by Ben H Allen (Deerhunter, Cee-Lo). The last few months has seen Only Real work on his debut album which is due out early next year. It’s been produced by Ben H Allen in Atlanta and Dan Carey (Franz Ferdinand, Childhood) in London.

“Pass The Pain” is the follow up to Only Real’s first single on Virgin EMI “Cadillac Girl”. The track saw praise in the likes of NME, i-D The Beat and Wonderland, alongside various plays on Radio 1, including Huw Stephens.
