Django Django nominated for Mercury Prize

We’re hugely excited at the nomination of Django Django last night for this year’s Mercury Prize. The EYOE and Field Day favourites join Lianne La Havas (Apple Cart Festival) and Jessie Ware (Field Day) on an interesting list, missing a good deal of our tips that we posted last week, but as always the panel challenge and surprise in equal measure.

Rachel Zeffira – Break The Spell

Rachel Zeffira is back with a solo record later this year, and she is also playing a very special, intimate show for us (only 100 tickets total! so be quick) on 18th of October. As a taster to both of those eagerly anticipated events you can download a song from her below. It’s a real beauty too.

Florence at Bestival

Take a peek at Florence belting out Ceremonials highlight ‘Shake It Down’. She’ll be doing the same thing again for us at the O2 Arena on the 5th of December. Tickets onsale this week.

The xx – Angels (Live at Bestival)

It’s been a long wait for a second record from The xx but it’s finally here – out today, buy it! – and the band play a celebratory show for us at Shepherd’s Bush tonight. Catch the fantastic Angels live at Bestival above for a taster. The whole crowd singing along the chorus really puts the hairs on end.

Hot Chip Mix

Their latest album In Our Heads has grown into one of our favourites of the year – and potentially the best in the Hot Chip catalogue. Ahead of their twin October dates for us we’ve been trawling through old records to come up with a bit of a best of. Take a listen below, and send your suggestions on twitter @eatyourownears.
