Elliphant is the latest act to emerge from the management stable responsible for the amazing Niki and the Dove. This time we’re dealing with some seriously fun club-pop music. Take a listen to her new jam TeKKno Scene below, and see her support Niki and the Dove for us soon.

Chairlift with Kool A.D. (Das Racist) Covering Beyonce

We watched Chairlift chatting with the singular Heems from Das Racist on our Facebook last week. Now we have unearthed a gem – Chairlift covering Beyonce’s “Party” on Triple J (also featuring a slither of Kanye and Hov’s ‘Ni**as in Paris at the start). Enjoy!

Mouse on Mars Stream

Parastrophics is still one of our favourite records of the year, cementing Mouse on Mars legacy and setting up their show with us at Village Underground nicely. If you still haven’t heard it, shame on you, but you can correct that oversight by following the link below to XLR8R…

Mix: EYOE April Mixtape

Our monthy foray into the field of Mixtape curators via the popular medium of Spotify is now upon us. This month makes for particularly good fodder, from the light, summer tones of Of Montreal, Chairlift, Outfit and Tribes at the end of the month and the wistful, blooming melodies of Revere, Shearwater and Julie Doiron in the next few days. Have a listen below.

This Week’s Gigs

Amazing week of music on the radar this week, this week’s line-up sees some of the most inventive and interesting bands around hitting the wooden planks for us.

When Saints Go Machine – Monday – Hoxton Bar and Kitchen

The latest in a long, long line of brilliant Scandinavian pop to emerge the past few years. When Saints Go Machine released one of our favourite records of 2011 and return to play the hits and (hopefully) some new material too. Unmissable for any synth-pop aficionados out there.

Shearwater – Tuesday – Scala

From the makers of one of 2011’s favourites to Shearwater, who are responsible for one of our favourite records of this year so far. Animal Joy is the sort of album you can sink your teeth in to and find a different piece of meat each time – a FabergĂ© egg of a record that reveals itself more with each listen. We’re pretty excited about catching the definitive version at the Scala.

Dark Dark Dark – Wednesday – Bush Hall

Dark Dark Dark are a pretty unique proposition – they mix Eastern European influence with folk and Americana. A lot of fixed, geographical idioms that somehow dance with each other in pleasing ways on record. It’s intimate and Bush Hall marks a perfect setting for this sold out show.

Revere – Wednesday – Cargo

Revere are another group with a unique blend of influences – from performing with Toumani Diabate to their own epic, anthemic music. As anybody who follows the blog will know we’re big fans of Revere. They recently took over the Field Day blog, and curated a YouTube playlist too – revealing a love for Morricone, Mike Patton, Sigur Ros, Nick Cave and much much more. Expect to hear shades of all of that and more.

EXCLUSIVE: REVERE – These Halcyon Days

Another exclusive from REVERE and an barnstorming performance video of the band playing ‘These Halcyon Days’. For our money one of the best live bands in the UK right now, they play for us on April 4th and the excitement is mounting for us.
