New show: Grimes at Heaven

Fresh from selling out XOYO and conquering the internet with her excellent new video we are pleased to announce a new date for Grimes. She will play Heaven for us on the 5th of September – and of course plays Field Day the first weekend of June too.

Watch: The Horrors and Florence and the Machine do "Still Life"

The much anticipated collaboration between The Horrors and Florence and the Machine happened at the NME Awards and they performed ‘Still Life’, turning it into even more of an epic tune. Watch that clip above, and catch up on the whole award ceremony via 4OD.

The Horrors and Florence and the Machine play together for us at Alexandra Palace this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We don’t have an inkling that they will reprise the performance, but we can hope!

Interview: Laneway meet Chairlift

Laneway Interview Series – Chairlift from PEDESTRIAN.TV on Vimeo.

Here’s a nice little video interview with Chairlift who recently hit the excellent Laneway festival in Australia (Laneway also have a stage at this year’s Field Day). Chairlift play a sold out show for us this week, and return on April 25th to play the Scala.

This Week’s Gigs

The theme to this week’s gigs is SOLD OUT (again) with another fully booked week. Some of these artists have more shows coming up with us though, so if anything takes your fancy then we’d advise booking ahead now.

Andrew Bird – Monday – Barbican

Andrew is a lesser spotted Bird in the UK and it is with much excitement that we welcome him back to London this week. His new album has been a constant companion over the past couple of weeks and we can’t wait to hear it aired live. If you missed tickets then Andrew Bird plays again for us at FIELD DAY.

Youth Lagoon – Tuesday – Electrowerkz

Trever Powers has taken the US by storm over the past year. His demure, quiet songs found fans far and wide and saw him sell out venues all across the country. It’s a record we’re still playing and sounds like it could be a sly-favourite over years to come. His London debut is hotly anticipated.

Chairlift – Tuesday – Borderline

Chairlift return to play for us again on Tuesday, their first outing since dropping their stunning new record ‘Something’. This one is sold out but you can see the duo again at the end of April at the Scala.

Spector – Wednesday – 100 Club

Spector blew the 100 Club away last week and they are returning for a second shot. Undoubtably the smallest venue you are likely to see these guys in for some time, lucky lucky people who got tickets. Spector return in May to play Electric Ballroom for us and have a slot at Field Day.

Florence and the Machine – Thursday, Friday, Saturday – Alexandra Palace

Friend of EYOE Florence returns for three headline dates this week at Alexandra Palace. These dates are long sold out and a special opportunity to catch highlights from the new record and much more in the splendor of Ally Pally. Support comes from The Horrors and Spector (Thurs), Theme Park (Fri) and Alpines (Sat).

New Build + New Build Afterparty – Friday – Corsica Studios

W e’ve fallen heavily for the charms of New Build lately and can’t wait to shake two legs at their show on Friday. It’s a bit of a Hot Chip love-in all round: New Build, 2 Bears DJ, Al and Felix Hot Chip DJ, plus Dominik Euberg, Hannah Holland, Teamy, All Night Wrong/Bang & Olufson DJs keeping things warm well into the night. The show is sold out, but the after-party still has an open door.

Peaking Lights Remixes

We’re big fans of Peaking Lights here. They play for us in London soon as well us a slot a Field Day. Recently we’ve been delving into some of the great remixes that trailer their last record and really enjoying them. Here’s a selection of our favourites, from Sunless 97 to Main Attrakionz.

Mouse on Mars Spotify Mix

Mouse on Mars formed in 1993 and have spent almost 20 years on the frontier of electronic music. Even though they have changed shape and sound by slight increments over that time their music is always characterized by a certain amount of playfulness, and beauty. It’s fun music. They just release a brand new LP, which is already garnering great reviews from the likes of FACT magazine and this one from Pitchfork. If you haven’t dug into the depths of Mouse on Mars, fear not: there’s still time. We have pulled together a Spotify Mix of some of our highlights and some of their biggest tunes. Give it a spin this afternoon.

Mouse on Mars play Village Underground on April 20th.
