Gold Panda // Jamie Lidell

Gold Panda

Check out one of our favourite Gold Panda songs, and a nice blink-cut video above.  It makes good preparation for seeing the man in action at Corsica Studios tonight, fresh from releasing one of 2010’s best albums.

Jamie Lidell

How about a little bit of feel good to brighten the almost-winter days? Jamie Lidell’s career has been fascinating so far – emerging from Warp electronic music into the interesting yesteryear soul crossover that he is now. He’s got a deserved reputation as one of the best live performers going, check out this official video for a live favourite. It promises to be huge tonight at Koko.

Erland and the Carnival Takeover

It’s takeover time again. Following on from our last one with Born Ruffians, which was entertaining, funny and educational. So join us again Thursday 18th November (tommorow) at 7 P.M. GMT to fire your questions, pictures and videos at Erland and The Carnival.

Erland and The Carnival are one of our favourites of this year and feature former members of The Verve, The Good The Bad and The Queen, Blur and The Cult, so plenty to grapple with.

The takeover will happen on our facebook page which you can find below.

Eat Your Own Ears and Four Tet Presents…

It’s been a long time coming this one and we are overexcited now. So much so that we have done the good thing and made a spotify playlist so all you lucky ticket-holders can get excited with us too. Also pleased to include one of my favourite remixes – Nathan Fakes earthy-shattering of ‘Dressed To Please’ by The Shocking Pinks.

And check out the middle section trilogy of Sun-invoking songs.

Twin Shadow

We can’t get enough of Twin Shadow right now. His album ‘Forget’ is a big favourite with it’s pop charm and future-classic songs. It touches all the right bases and it looks like he is even better live – which is always a huge plus. Check out this amazing acoustic session above. It’s rare for an acoustic session to come across as just as powerful as a full-live performance but the sample drums and ever-so-solid bassline propels this to another level.

Rough Trade Top 100 of 2010

The mulled wine is out, there’s Christmas trees in shops and someone from the television is probably going to turn on the lights on Oxford Street soon (if they haven’t already).

But the best part of this time of year is the lists. And popping up nice and timely is the Rough Trade 100. Great to see Caribou (FRIDAY) heading up the list, and also good to see appearances from Gold Panda (THURSDAY) and Matthew Dear (DECEMBER).

1. Caribou – Swim
2. Gil Scott-Heron – I’m New Here
3. These New Puritans – Hidden
4. Caitlin Rose – Own Side Now
5. Phosphorescent – Here’s To Taking It Easy
6. Darkstar – North
7. Charlotte Gainsbourg – IRM
8. Gold Panda – Lucky Shiner
9. Wild Nothing – Gemini
10. Tame Impala – Innerspeaker
