Lovely festive cover from Farao, who takes on Walking in the Air. Have a listen below, and come and see her next year at the Waiting Room in London.

The end of the year is creeping into view (though we still have a Christmas show with James Yorkston to be excited about) and we’ve got plenty in the diary for next year already. Have a look at our latest artwork above and grab tickets for the likes of Stephen Malkmus (also check out our mix here), Anna Calvi, East India Youth and plenty more for the new year.

James Yorkston is the Eat Your Own Ears version of Father Christmas. This Thursday sees the return of his annual Christmas show – again at Union Chapel. We must have been very good this year, because Yorkston brings Mogwai man Stuart Braithwaite along for the show this time. Watch an excellent video from Domino of the Yorkston/Christmas show two years ago. Lovely, winter warming stuff.
Our night in London with Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks is approaching deceptively fast (with Xmas propping up the middle). We spent the weekend listening back to some of his solo highlights (and of course some classic Pavement too) to pull together a ‘Guide to’ mix via the magic of Spotify.
Hear it below, and grab tickets for his January date here.
2013 has been an excellent year for new records, and as our traditional format dictates, we’re excited to reveal the 2013 lists of Eat Your Own Ears staff below. Some are top 5, some are top 6… Some in order, some not. Dig in below. Then listen to a Spotify mix featuring songs from all.
Tweet us with yours at @eatyourownears and let us know what your favourite gigs of the year have been too.

Another great video from Stephen Malkmus and his Jicks, who are warming up to the release of Wig Out at the Jagbags (Out January 7th) with a quickness.
Malkmus & co are in town to play for us on January 16th at The Forum, a show which kickstarts our 2014 calendar with aplomb. Grab tickets for that here.
