This Week’s Shows

WED 7TH NOVEMBER
KINDNESS

Kindness kicks off a busy week in London for us. Adam Bainbridge and co boast one of the most fun shows we’ve seen for years and he’s got a lot to celebrate this time. His debut record is in firm reckoning for the year’s best.

THU 8TH NOVEMBER
CLOCK OPERA

Clock Opera are another band who released a triumphant debut record this year. We’ve been on their trail since the start and it’s been great to watch Clock Opera blossom this year into the band they had promised to be. Very exciting last London show for a while.

THU 8TH NOVEMBER
ANDREW BIRD

Andrew Bird just released his second record for the year Hands of Glory. It’s a big treat full of great renditions and a couple of new bits in there too. He’s blown us away once already earlier in the year. We wouldn’t bet on him doing it again this week.

FRI 9TH NOVEMBER
MARK KOZELEK – SOLD OUT

Mark Kozelek is in town for a rare appearence. On this first night he hits Union Chapel, before playing at the tiny St Giles Church on Saturday night. Both shows will be very special indeed.

FRI 9TH NOVEMBER
DARKSTAR

Darkstar have just announced a second record News from Nowhere. We’re still enamoured with North and looking forward to hearing highlights from that as well as a taster for whats to come. Patten supports and is well worth catching.

SAT 10TH NOVEMBER
SPECTOR

This year’s Kings of pop hit the hallowed boards of Shepherd’s Bush Empire to round off a hugely exciting tour. They play with up-and-comers LULS, Splashh and Swim Deep.

SAT 10TH NOVEMBER
MARK KOZELEK

SAT 10TH NOVEMBER
LOTUS PLAZA

A rare solo London outing for Deerhunter man Lockett Pundt. He’s the man who wrote some of our favourite tunes in that band – Desire Lines, Nothing Ever Happened – and his debut record from this year is brilliant too.

Andrew Bird – Three White Horses

Check out a great new video from Andrew Bird. The vid is for Three White Horses, one of the many highlights from Andrew Bird’s new record Hands of Glory. We’re having a bit of an Andrew Bird week on the blog, carried forward by the excitement of him returning to London next Thursday for a special show.

Andrew Bird hits Letterman

Andrew Bird sounding great on Letterman. Watch the video above and don’t forget he’s playing for us in just a week’s time. Still a few tickets left, but hurry.

Introducing: Chvrches

Chvrches are one of the most exciting bands we’ve come across for a while. Their glitchy electronic music is somewhere between The Knife and Purity Ring but blown up in scale. We put some free tickets out there for their show at Electrowerkz and they sold out in record time. Get onboard the hype with their jam The Mother We Share below…

Mark Kozelek prepping three records

Via Pitchfork

Good news via Pitchfork that Mark Kozelek a.k.a. Sun Kil Moon is prepping three records; a live album, another covers record (he previously took on Modest Mouse) and a soundtrack.

Kozelek plays two shows for us before the year is out on a rare trip to the UK. Don’t miss him!

Look ahead: Darkstar and Patten

EYOE faves Darkstar are back next week for us playing ahead of a new single ‘Timeaway’. We’ve been playing that tune an awful lot lately and can’t wait to see whats in store. Sometimes the stars (no pun intended) align and allow us to really curat a superb show and with Patten in main support this night has really come together  – his firecracker electronic music is set to be the perfect warm-up.
